Star Summit - Rethinking Reentry
The 2020 STAR Summit will feature Debbie Allen as the breakfast keynote speaker. Allen is the Executive Advisor to Mayor Lyda Krewson, and also serves as the Interim Executive Director of the City of St. Louis Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, which was established last year. She will be explaining the goals of the council and how it can bring regional reentry professionals and initiatives together.
“We must recognize that we have an underperforming criminal justice system in the City of St. Louis, and my presentation is going to speak to the work that I and so many other folks here in the city have been working toward on finding those solutions and bringing everyone together,” Allen says, “I want everyone to recognize that you’re not alone and that we should not be working alone.”
Allen and many other reentry presenters at the 2020 STAR Summit will provide ideas on how to stay solution focused in day-to-day reentry work. The 2020 STAR Summit is on March 18th at St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley. Click HERE to register for only $25.
STAR Summit organizers are thrilled to announce Dr. Kendra Holmes from Affinia Healthcare as one of the presenters for St. Louis City and County’s day focused on reentry efforts in the region. Dr. Holmes will discuss Addiction and Mental Health Diversion Programs available.
“Mental health is a large contributing factor to substance abuse,” Dr. Holmes emphasizes. Her morning breakout sessions will focus on recognizing underlying symptoms for justice-involved individuals, effective treatment options, and different diversion programs that serve as reliable resources to tackle mental health and substance abuse barriers.
